TWO CHILDREN'S AUTHORS TO VISIT

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 22; 7 PM

Two authors are coming to visit! KEVIN SANDS will introduce Mark of the Plague, a sequel to the beloved The Blackthorn Key and JAMES PONTI will introduce Framed, the first in a new middle grade series. Both of these books are seriously engaging, involving puzzles and mysteries. In Mark of the Plague, London is threatened with a rapidly spreading deadly disease. Only one apothecary, Christopher Blackthorn, can formulate a remedy, but an assassin threatens his life. Christopher and his friend Tom risk their lives to untangle the heart of a dark conspiracy involving the rapidly moving plague before it’s too late. ALADDIN BOOKS

In Framed, we meet Florian Bates, who is 12 years old, and besides going to middle school, he also works for the FBI. Why? Because he’s good at noticing small things. He refers to this skill as TOAST: Theory of All Small Things. He figures that “if you add up a bunch of little details, it reveals the larger truth.” Using TOAST, he and his friend Margaret aim to crack a case involving the National Gallery, the FBI, and a notorious crime syndicate. Ponti has written and produced television shows for Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, PBS, Spike, History Channel, and Golf Channel.
