TERRY HAYES

SATURDAY, MAY 31; 2 PM

TERRY HAYES will introduce his gripping thriller, I Am Pilgrim. Pilgrim is the code name for Scott Murdock. The adopted son of a wealthy American family, he once headed up a highly secret espionage unit for U.S. intelligence. Always reclusive and now wanting to retire to a life of quiet anonymity, he is reluctant to respond to NYPD detective Ben Bradley who has asked for his help with the investigation of a gruesome murder of a woman in a low-rent Manhattan hotel. But his “duty and faith in the human spirit call him back into service.” In doing so, he is drawn into not only that murder case but an investigation into a biologic threat against the U.S., which ties into the murder.

He soon finds himself in the middle of an international manhunt moving through the United Kingdom, France, Saudi Arabia, and Afghanistan looking for a Middle Eastern native whom the Pilgrim codenames “the Saracen.” Saracen is planning to spread a fast-acting form of the deadly smallpox virus across the U.S. It’s a race against time before this Muslim jihadist commits an appalling act of mass murder. Can he be stopped?

Terry Hayes has co-authored the screenplay for Road Warrior/Mad Max 2, Dead Calm, and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, and a number of TV movies and mini-series – including Bodyline and Bangkok Hilton. He has won over 25 film or television awards.

He will be interviewed at the event by DON THRASHER, entertainment and music writer for the Dayton Daily News and ActiveDayton.com.
