MICHAEL HINGSON

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 16; 2 PM

MICHAEL HINGSON, accompanied by his current guide dog Africa, will introduce his book, Thunder Dog: The True Story of a Blind Man, His Guide Dog, and the Triumph of Trust at Ground Zero. This incredible story tells of what it was like inside the North Twin Tower when the hi-jacked plane crashed into it on September 11, 2001. From his senses, totally blind Michael Hingson could hear the sounds of shattering glass, falling debris, and terrified people flooding around him and his guide dog, Roselle, who sat calmly beside him. In that moment, Michael chose to trust Roselle’s judgment and not to panic. He followed Roselle into the fume-filled chamber of Stairwell B, down 78 floors in a harrowing escape. It’s a remarkable and inspiring story.

Mr. Hingson will be in the Dayton-area as part of an Ohio Association of Goodwill Industries conference sponsored by Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley.
