MAN TRAVELED A MILLION MILES TO SAVE DOGS

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 20; 7 PM

PETER ZHEUTLIN will discuss his book, Rescue Road: One Man, Thirty Thousand Dogs, and a Million Miles on the Last Hope Highway. With him will be GREG MAHLE, the man who drove those million miles to save the lives of sick, abused and abandoned dogs. Twice a month, Greg leaves his home in Ohio in a specially outfitted 12-wheel rig bound for the Gulf Coast to rescue dogs and bring them to the Northeast to be adopted. He finds them everywhere; wandering city streets, in remote woodlands and even in dumpsters. On each journey north he has a full load: ninety dogs bound for “forever” homes. SOURCEBOOKS

Peter became interested in the venture when he adopted one of Greg’s dogs, so he hit the road with Greg to see for himself just how it was done. He weaves heartwarming stories of the rescued dogs and the “Angels” who help to feed, clean, and care for the dogs during their long ride to new homes.
