EXPLAINING OHIO...THE BELLWETHER STATE

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 25; 2 PM

As they say, Ohio is the heart of it all! That is never more evident than in the presidential election cycle. KYLE KONDIK confirms that idea as he discusses his book, The Bellwether: Why Ohio Picks the President. The book is “for the moment” for it looks to the past and attempts to forecast the future role of Ohio as a swing state. Political junkies and other informed citizens alike will find much to glean from the research presented in the book. “Since 1896, Ohio voters have maintained a remarkable streak of voting for the winner in the general presidential election, with their choice continuing to the White House more than 90 percent of the time.” OHIO UNIVERSITY PRESS

Kyle Kondik, a widely cited expert on American campaigns and elections, is managing editor of Sabato’s Crystal Ball, a nonpartisan political tipsheet. He is from greater Cleveland and lives in Washington, DC.
